7:45 - 8:15 AM Breakfast and Networking 8:15 - 9:00 AM Keynote Speaker, Mary Ludgin with Heitman 9:00 - 9:15 AM Minneapolis Root District "Where we have been and where we are going." with Katilin McCoy, Cushing Terrell and Shannon Fitzgerald, NūLoop Partners 9:15 - 10:00 AM Panel Discussion - The Future for the Root District - District Energy and Food District
Just west of Target Field is a largely industrial area called the Root District. Anchored by the Minneapolis Farmers Market and soon to be impacted by the Green Line LRT extension, the district is prime for redevelopment. NūLoop Partners and the Urban Land Institute invite you to a conversation to learn from leading experts and explore how this district can weave energy, food, and equity into a narrative that sets the tone for measurable sustainable development targets. Join us on April 18th to hear from Mary Ludgin, Head of Global Research for Heitman, as she shares global trends in decarbonization within real estate, changes in the regulatory backdrop for developers and building owners, and how other cities/regions are approaching the net zero imperative for a climate-resilient future. What does it truly take to create an environmentally and economically sustainable future? Over breakfast at the Glass House, a site that embodies so many of these goals, learn from Mary and then dive deep into the future of the Root District as Kaitlin McCoy (Cushing Terrell) and Shannon Fitzgerald (NūLoop Partners) share the findings from Creating Net Zero Framework for a Climate Resilient Future. They will discuss what it takes to advance district energy, pursue net zero at a larger scale, and integrate equitable frameworks into district energy. Our panel will lay out the future of development that will make this district unlike any other in the metro area. Member pricing ranges from $35-59, with discounts for the public sector, non-profits, and young leaders. Cost of the program includes breakfast and two hours* of continuing education credits. *Minnesota Department of Commerce Real Estate CE, AIA and AICP credits have been applied for and are pending approval.
